Very interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I believe there is a loving and kind God out there—it’s just not the earthly God that everybody prays to. Individual spirituality is the way to go. Big hug
I'm not going to lie, Colin, you had me thinking this was going one way with the title and opening imagery.
It's a great reminder that stayed fairly faith agnostic throughout, and at least long enough to keep me there til the punchline.
While religious zealotry is not a uniquely American thing, much like Apple we took someone else's good idea and made it even better. I've been battling the tendency to just take a spiritual leader at their word my entire life, as the lone black sheep agnostic in my family.
Just like in writing, finding my authentic faith was my own personal journey.

Thanks for the thought provoking piece today.
Hi Jody.
I think your story perfectly illustrates the point of my post.
"I've been battling the tendency to just take a spiritual leader at their word my entire life"
and then
"...finding my authentic faith was my own personal journey."
I think it is important that people question things more and seek the truth behind what they're being told.
Yes, this is so important!
Thank you Gloria.
