I'm very glad you have recalled the whole story n learned from it!
The lesson for all of us to learn is to let go of guilt. Exactly like you have indicated guilt n regret is the same, pointless holding onto.
If we look from another point of view - yes they have sacrificed for our sake. The more we should strive on n live double better including their share. 🫶🫰✌️👍💪🙌🙏😉😁
I've actually welcomed guilt. I've welcomed it because it's allowed me to reflect on the decisions I made that hurt other people; people I would like to apologise to but the apology would neither be welcomed or accepted.
Guilt has also allowed me to understand that I am where I am because of my own decisions, my responsibilities and my actions. Reflecting on those decisions has allowed me to understand that I am, in fact happy as I am.
We have all caused pain to others we wish we hadn’t Ernie. But perhaps we were teaching them a lesson as well. As we more awareness of how we are being and acting then we can be more understanding and empathetic to others. More aware of our actions and decisions.
beautiful to connect to those who can remember beyond this lifetime and pull in the lessons and skills from times before. As we remember we are eternal, I'm glad to refind you this time around. May the emotion of guilt be transformed.
Wow, that's quite the story, Colin! I knew someone who was the only person out of his entire company to survive a devastating battle... out of sheer luck.
There's also an interesting book series, the Inspector Rutledge series by Charles Todd with a protagonist who experiences survivor's guilt.
All he could feel was guilt. ⬅️ I think guilt is the saddest human nature we have. Especially people who are very empathetic.
I have learned through many experiences, one has to truly let go of the guilt before anything else.
As long as we continue to harness it, we won't be able to forgive ourselve! This is stamped from self-blame!
Self-blame was due to the inability to protect our loved ones, thinking they have sacrificed on our behalf!
Thus, we must eliminate this thought n look from a differrent perspective.🙏😊
Yes, I agree. It is also completely pointless for feeling guilty doesn’t achieve anything. It doesn’t change anything.
But is is interesting how it can consume us and affect us in so many ways.
Thanks as always for your insights sis :-)

I'll ponder that Colin. I'm not there at the moment. Too much shit going on.
wishing you all the best Ernie!

Thanks so much @Dr. Louise Schriewer
I definitely think that survivor guilt is a thing. I will look up that book series, thank you.
You’re very welcome!
Osho quotes take it easy . But in reality we easily take all the things without any thought !
Thanks for sharing Sandra :-)
