There was once a time on this earth when all things answered to God, the creator. But there was not one God, but many.
There was a God for every different aspect on earth. Fire, water, wind and time. The sun and nature herself.
The various civilizations on earth praised and worshipped these Gods for they understood the importance of them and how important those different aspects where to their survival.
They were grateful and present. They marveled at the beauty of nature and the sunrises and sunsets. They marveled at the limitless supply of food that they had available when they went hunting.
Sure, it was dangerous and not easy but it was there. When things went wrong, they took responsibility themselves. They understood that they had played a part in whatever disaster befell them.
They realised that they had to do better next time. If there was a next time for them. They had to quickly move on from the death of a loved one or any of bad things that happened.
War, fighting, accidents and so on. They didn't have the time to allow their past to hold them back. They didn't have the time to wallow in self pity. For as you were sat there feeling sorry for yourself, something will come and eat you.
You had to be present and aware all the time of what was happening around you. There was always danger lurking around the next tree or rock.
Deadly snakes would lie in wait on the game trails for their prey to walk past. If you happened to stand on the snake because you were not concentrating, it was game over.
There was no time to ponder or seek distraction. For in ancient times, distraction resulted in death. Life was often short for there were diseases that would ravage the human body.
But the people of the time had always embraced nature and been at one with her. They understood the rules of nature. The circle of life. The natural way of the world.
Do not take more than you need. Live in harmony with your surroundings. Leave no trace of your passing. And above all, find a way to thrive and enjoy your human experience. Love with all your heart, everything that you can.
A deer and her young fawn. A swan and her signets. A lion and her cubs. All signs that life is carrying on. The cycle of nature is in play. From insects hatching to a baby giraffe being born. Everything is working as it is meant to be.
But then man evolved and not necessarily in a good way. Yes, some thrived and enjoyed a better experience. But it was at the cost of others. The cost of their fellow man and the cost of nature.
And this threw out the balance in the world. Man took over. They built dams and cities and vast farms. They hacked down forests. They killed all the animals. They took over.
They became over populated. The earth felt the strain and she started to creak. But man simply complained. They did not appreciate the beauty of nature. Instead, they appreciated their creations of steel, concreate and glass.
But even in that new man made jungle. Nature still found a way to survive and thrive. Amongst the cracks and in the gardens, she waits patiently. For one day, everything will return back to exactly as it was in the beginning.
Nature will always win. She has time on her hands. She will take back her land inch by inch, year by year. And man will not notice for he is too busy seeking distraction from real life.
Too busy thinking only of himself. Too busy taking over. But one day, the tide will turn as it always does and always has. And the vast cities will turn to dust and be reclaimed by the God of nature.
And one day, everything will be reset once more as has happened in the past a thousand times over. And man will wake up in his cave once more and he will be grateful for his surroundings.
He will be grateful for life. He will be grateful for the air he breathes and the water he can drink and he will be happy and content. He will not yearn for distraction from his gift of life but he will fully embrace it.
He will be aware and present and his heart will be full of love. And the God of nature will smile and remember of the humans tried to conquer her and failed.
And now, they are at her feet, grateful and worshipping her beauty and gifts as if seen for the very first time. And she will wonder, how long it will take this time for man to do a full cycle of trying to conquer the world he lives in.
Or will it be different this time. And he will stay in harmony and peace and love and appreciation. But she knows it only takes one ambitious man to rage destruction and death on so many others and the world.
The others will follow obediently, never realising that the all have the same power within them. Forgetting what is really important.
Spending a lifetime chasing after the unobtainable and only realising their mistake when it is simply too late.
