The Ancient Practice That Can Restore Your Mental Health Today
There was a time, thousands of years ago, when life was easier—not because the world was softer, but because people were closer.
Men and women worked as a team. Couples actually spoke to each other. Families gathered each night around a fire and shared their hearts openly.
They asked real questions:
How was your day? What are you struggling with? What do you dream of creating?
They planned, supported, encouraged and healed together.
Communication wasn’t a skill back then.
It was a way of life.
People felt valued. They felt seen. They felt needed.
And when you feel needed, you feel strong.
But then came the dark times — wars, disasters, famine, loss. Entire families were wiped out. Those who survived were left alone, without support, without guidance, without a shoulder to lean on.
Survival replaced connection.
Fear replaced trust.
Silence replaced communication.
People stopped speaking from the heart because no one seemed to care.
Everyone was overwhelmed, traumatized, exhausted.
And so the great art of communication slowly disappeared.
And here we are today — living in a modern world with ancient wounds.
We pretend to be strong, we pretend to be “fine,” we pretend that our thoughts don’t torment us.
We carry grief, fear, confusion and pain alone.
We love our families, yet we rarely speak to them deeply.
We don’t ask the questions that matter.
We don’t say the things we feel.
We don’t listen.
We are surrounded by people, yet more lonely than any generation before us.
But it doesn’t have to stay this way.
Because the truth is this:
The world you experience is created in your mind.
Dark thoughts create a dark world.
Fear creates more fear.
But when you shift your thoughts…
when you focus on gratitude, on love, on possibility…
the world reveals its light again.
And the fastest way to return to that light is simple:
Talk to each other.
Deeply. Honestly. Gently.
Share your fears.
Share your memories.
Share your hopes.
Share what hurts.
Share what you love.
Connection heals.
Presence heals.
Being heard heals.
God placed you exactly where you are, in this time, in this moment, for a reason.
You matter.
You are needed.
Your life has purpose.
And the highest version of you — the one aligned with light, love, and gratitude — appears the moment you choose to connect again.
So this week, do something ancient:
Have a deep conversation with someone you love.
Ask real questions.
Share real truth.
Talk about what you want to create in your life.
Talk about what you’re grateful for.
Talk about your struggles — and your dreams.
Rebuild the art of communication.
Rebuild love.
Rebuild connection.
And help create a world where no one has to suffer in silence again.

Thank you Colin. A wonderful treat. We are headed back to intimate communion. I would only add…share with those who are open enough to hear and affirm.
