There is a story of an ancient warrior who lived many thousands of years ago. He was the strongest in his tribe. Bulging muscles and handsome. All the women cooed over him.
The other husbands were annoyed and jealous. They would try and send him off on very dangerous missions, thinking that he would be killed and then their wives and women would not be tempted anymore.
However, the wise warrior knew what they were up to. One evening, he called a meeting with all these men around the camp fire. He stood tall and strong in front of them. Silently commanding their attention.
They sat there, looking up at him. Guilty and concerned as to what the warrior was going to say or do. Was he going to fight them. Punish them for their insecurity. The warrior began to speak.
"I know what you have been doing. You have been testing me and I have passed all your tests. But now it is time for me to challenge you. You sit there and you are jealous of my strength and dedication.
You are jealous because your women look at me and giggle in delight. But I am not here to take your women from you. I am not here to make you miserable and jealous.
But I am here to protect my tribe and I am here to make you better men. Do not look at my strength and physic and simply be jealous. Be inspired.
Be inspired to look the same as me. Be inspired to join me on my quests and challenges to become better yourself. Be inspired to train every day like I do so that you too can become fit and strong.
Then your women will stop looking at me and see their husband has transformed before them and they will only have eyes for you.
Let us all grow strong and fit together. Let's inspire our children to be the same. We are much stronger together than we are fighting amongst each other.
We are better together when we all take responsibility for ourselves and our bodies and our actions. Let us be a strong bunch of men that grow together. That make our women proud of us.
The men murmured amongst themselves. One of them stood up and said.
"But this will be too hard for us. We will have to get up early like you do and go training. We like to sleep in. We work hard already and so we need our sleep and rest."
"Yes", said the warrior. "I hear you. But following this new path of being strong and fit and healthy will give you more energy and self-worth.
The question is, will you be able to keep up with your wife when she wants you to ravish her every night because you have become a new man. Or will you complain about that as well.
When you look down at your body, do you want to feel proud or embarrassed. Do you want to feel shame. Or do you want to understand that this is your body and it is down to you as to how you want to look and act.
Do you want to be a better version of yourself so that you can protect your family and your village. Do you want to inspire others to be the same as you or do you want to be fat and lazy and complain.
It is absolutely your right to choose to be fat and lazy and complain but you will miss out on having a better, more fulfilling life. You will miss out on others looking up at you and being inspired and wanting to be like you.
Your laziness does not come from a pure place. It does not come from your heart. Step up and play your part in inspiring others around you.
Strive to be better and have a better human experience. To have more energy and motivation to do the things you would love to do. Above all, to lead by example.
One of the men jumped up and shouted, "YES!" He was full of energy and excitement, his fat belly wobbling.
Another stood up and stuck his hand in the air and shouted. "Yes, I want to ravish my beautiful wife every night like a wild animal. I want to be fit and strong like you".
The other men laughed aloud. However, a few of the men tried to dissuade the others. They sat there, grumpy and forlorn and resistant to change.
But as more and more of the men stood up and committed themselves to this new way of being, they were persuaded to join in. They were hesitant but they found themselves being pulled along.
They found themselves being part of something. They felt they were connected and on a new journey together. They were not alone. They were supported and inspired.
And so it came to be. The men committed to becoming fit and strong. When they faltered, the others would pick them up. When they tried to sleep in, the others would all come in and wake them up.
They quickly came to see the power in working together and not leaving anyone behind. And yes, their wives were eternally grateful for the new version of their man and they didn't hold back in showing their appreciation.
Let's work together and be better than yesterday.
