The little being's grip of your hand tightens. It was painful and you were surprised at the strength of such a small creature. It huddled closer to you, as though it thought that you where it’s protector.
You became painfully aware that they were all looking at you now. They needed you to look after them. But this wasn't your world. This vast creature hurtling towards your craft was bigger than anything you could fathom let along imagine.
And yet, here it was, about to kill you and all your new friends. You leap forward and grab the controls of the small craft. You yank it to the left as violently as you can.
The craft lurches and almost goes into a spin but it holds as it changes direction and shoots off. Everyone is flung to the side as you cling onto the control stick. It is a bit like an earth game controller.
There is a loud crack as one of the flying creatures large talons bangs into the craft. It screeches in frustration as it was expecting to get a meal.
All of you were its meal. You straighten the craft again and put it into full speed while the flying creature tries to turn around as quickly as possible and get after you. But, in a flash you have left it behind.
The speedy craft out matches the large creature. Everyone in the craft cheers loudly as they realise that you have saved their lives. They rush over and hug you. They appear to be crying with happiness and joy.
You feel that deep sense of love and adoration from them. You smile to yourself. In fact, you simply can't stop yourself smiling. It just feels so good.
You continue to fly along and come into another world. Deep, dark rainforests. Huge leaves which are ten times the size of your whole craft. It reminds you of a movie, honey I shrunk the kids.
This is what it must feel like being a miniature in a huge forest. You have the feeling that someone is watching you. But it is no one in the craft, that sense of being watched is coming from something in the jungle.
And there are more than 2 eyes. There are a cluster of 8 eyes watching your craft intently as it speeds towards it. At the last minute, it steps out. It is the biggest spider you have ever seen. And that includes in the movies.
Your face drains of colour and you feel weak and helpless. Another being grabs the joystick from you and expertly flies the small craft between the legs of the giant spider.
It tries to whirl around and grab the craft but it is too slow and cumbersome. It does lurch after you but the craft is faster and despite lumbering after you, it gets left behind.
You're sweating but the colour returns to your face and you regain your strength. There is no laughing or judgement from your little companions. Some of them where scared to.
Your journey continues. You fly high above what looks like prehistoric dinosaurs. They are roaming around and fighting and feeding. It is like taking a glimpse into the past of earth, millions of years ago.
You watch incredulously. And then, you come bursting back to where you started. You didn't realise that you were doing a massive loop. That was one zoo trip that you’re not sure you want to repeat.
The craft glides to a stop and the doors opens. While you don't hear them speak, you hear the beings in your head. They are all excited and telling everyone how the human saved them. How it saved their lives.
They are so grateful and felt for sure that their end had come. But here they all are, safe and sound thanks to the human visitor. Everyone cheered silently and waved at you. You smile and wave back.
They lead you back to your shiny, silver craft that will take you back to earth. Your trip seems so short and yet so eventful.
You suddenly wonder how many earth years have passed since you have been exploring. Will it be just a few hours or will it be a hundred years. The journey begins as you wave goodbye to your new friends.
You feel a wave of love once more and you imagine sending it back to them. The craft takes off and the enormous complex rapidly gets smaller and smaller as you speed away.
You fly past unknown stars and planets. Blink and you'll miss it. You leave this new galaxy and head back towards your own. A part of you wishes that you could stay longer.
Explore more. But you know, that another adventure awaits you soon. They'll be back to collect you and you'll be ready for another wild ride.
P.S. This will really make my day! Drop a comment, like, or share, it means the world to me, thank you!
The story gives this warm feeling… It's also a reflection of how our help, no matter how little, could mean the world to someone or some creature that isn't as powerful as we are. When I was a kid, some stray chickens would sometimes come to our house with a tight thread wrapped around their legs. My brother and I would tell our mum, and she'd gently remove it and apply some oil to the area. If those chicks could talk, I'm sure they would have been really grateful- it must’ve hurt to walk around like that.
